Featured Card: Butterfly Sparkle

It is so hot here in Portland, I'll be staying inside in the air conditioning this weekend.  I'm a wimp when it comes to weather, I guess that's why it's good I live here!   We usually have very mild conditions, but for a few days per year it might dust a little snow or get way too hot.   I consider 80 to be borderline, but this week's temps of over 100 are just ridiculous!!    Sounds like a good weekend to stay inside and craft!

Speaking of craft, here is a card I designed for my recent Card Buffet, complete with the recipe so you can whip one up yourself!

Ingredients:
Yuletide Carol Paper Packet (Retired; Suggested Replacement:  Seaside Paper Packet (X7192B))
Round Sponge (Z697)
Sanding Kit (Z1294)
Wishes™ (softcover) (9041) (Pattern Used:  Season's Greetings Card 2, page 112)

Cutting Guide:
Black:  (A) 2" x 5-1/4", (D) 1-1/4" x 4-1/4", (F) Cricut butterfly background
Desert Sand:   (G) Cricut butterfly top layer
Pattern:  (B) 2" x 5-1/4", (C) 1-1/4" x 4-1/4"
Shimmer Tape:  (E x 2) 2-1/2" strips

Assembly:
  1. Adhere the larger Black (A) and Pattern (B) to card base, centered on the card with the center edges touching but not overlapping.
  2. Adhere the smaller Pattern (C) and Black (D) on the opposite paper from step 1, centered on the card with the center edges touching but not overlapping.
  3. Emboss the Black Butterfly (F) using the Dot folder.  Use the sanding kit to sand off some of the black paper and expose the white core on the dot pattern.  Use the sponge with Desert Sand ink to lightly dab ink all over to turn the exposed white areas into tan.
  4. Position the Black Butterfly approximately centered on the card, angled to the left.  Adhere the Black Butterfly to the card using foam tape behind each wing and regular adhesive behind the body (so that the wings pop up from the body slightly).
  5. Use the sponge with Desert Sand ink to lightly dab ink all over the Desert Sand Butterfly (G).  Adhere the sand colored butterfly on top of the black butterfly by applying adhesive only to the body of the butterfly (so the wings are free to flap).
  6. Attach the Shimmer Tape (E) strips above and below the butterfly, centered on the card.
